The ComEd Icebox Derby

The ComEd Icebox Derby started out as a refrigerator recycling program, and became an annual event for burgeoning STEM stars. Every year, high school girls across Chicagoland are invited to participate in the program, where they work in teams to build and eventually race derby cars fabricated from these recycled refrigerators. The culmination of their weeks of work is an action-packed race day at Daley Plaza, where they put their cars to the test.
